Creatures

From Primal Idle Wiki
(Redirected from Spinosaurus)

Creatures are the tameable prehistoric animals at the heart of Primal Idle. Every creature is captured through Taming, lives in your Stable, and can be put to work as a companion, sent out on Expeditions, or paired up in Breeding. There are 54 species in all, spread across ten Biomes.

Each wild creature you tame arrives with rolled stats inside its species' ranges. Those stats — and the mutations that come from breeding — are what make one individual of a species better than another.

Creature stats

[edit | edit source]

Every creature has three core stats, rolled randomly within a fixed range when tamed:

  • Power — offensive strength on Expeditions.
  • Guard — defensive toughness; your best tanks.
  • Swiftness — speed; high swiftness helps a party flee a losing fight.

A handful of the newer species also carry a Health stat. Stats can be pushed above the wild ranges through Breeding mutations and Imprinting, and further boosted by Dino Gear (saddles and bardings).

Companion buffs

[edit | edit source]

Every species has a companion buff: a passive bonus to one specific skill. A companion buff comes in one of two kinds:

  • Speed — the skill's actions complete faster (e.g. +15% Hunting speed).
  • Double — a percentage chance for the skill to yield double output (e.g. 20% chance of double Logging yield).

A creature only ever buffs the single skill listed for its species. Between them, the roster covers every skill in the game, so there is at least one companion for each.

Setting an Active Companion

[edit | edit source]

A companion buff only applies while that creature is assigned to its skill's companion (worker) slot in the Stable. The rules:

  • One companion per skill. Each skill has a single slot. Assigning a new creature to a skill that already has one replaces it. A creature can only be assigned to the skill its buff matches.
  • Companions don't fight. Assigning a creature as a companion pulls it out of your expedition party; sending it on an expedition takes it off the job.
  • Companions eat upkeep. An assigned companion eats one food item from its diet at a regular interval. Stronger buffs (20% or more) get hungry twice as fast as weaker ones.
  • Hungry companions stop buffing. If the bank runs out of food the creature matches, it goes hungry and its buff switches off until food is available again. Nothing is lost — it simply resumes the moment you restock.
  • Equipping a saddle (Dino Gear) can increase the value of the companion's buff.

Creature roster

The full roster below is sorted by the Taming level required to tame each species. Stat columns show the wild roll range. "Buff" is the companion bonus and the skill it applies to. Species without a listed biome are tameable in the starter Grasslands.
