Dino Gear

From Primal Idle Wiki

Dino Gear is Equipment for your tamed Creatures. Where the player wears weapons and armour, tames wear saddles and bardings that make them faster, harder-working, and tougher in a fight. Dino gear is freely re-equippable and never consumed, so a single piece can be moved between creatures as your stable changes.

Gear slots and stats

[edit | edit source]

Each creature has two gear slots:

Slot Focus Stats granted
Saddle Work & speed Swiftness, Worker buff
Barding Combat Guard, Power

The four dino-gear stats:

  • Swiftness — how quickly the creature moves and works.
  • Worker buff — a saddle multiplier that boosts the bonus a creature gives when assigned as a worker (for example ×1.15 = a 15% larger worker bonus).
  • Guard — the creature's defense and survivability in combat.
  • Power — the creature's attack; party power also feeds into your own attack on hunts.

Saddles specialise in getting more out of your workers; bardings specialise in fighting strength. A well-kitted creature runs both a saddle and a barding.

Saddles

[edit | edit source]

Saddles are made by Crafting and grant swiftness and a worker buff.

Hide Saddle +5 ×1.10 Crafting
Grainwoven Saddle +9 ×1.15 Crafting (Farm materials)

Bardings

[edit | edit source]

Bardings are made by Crafting and Smithing and grant guard and power.

Bone Barding +6 +2 Crafting
Bronze Barding +9 +3 Smithing
Iron Barding +13 +5 Smithing

Exclusive gear

[edit | edit source]

Beyond the craftable tiers, a handful of dino gear pieces drop nowhere on the crafting bench:

  • Cache Relics — the Wayfarer's Saddle, Sunfeather Saddle, Stormfang Barding and Bulwark Barding, found only in Trail Caches on Expeditions. See Relics.
  • Mark Exchange — the Huntmaster's Saddle (+10 swiftness, worker buff ×1.30) and Trailwarden Barding (+15 guard, +10 power), bought only with Fang Marks earned from the Contract Board.

These sit above the craftable gear and are the best-in-slot creature equipment.
