Battle Log is Primal Idle's after-action report system: a running record of your recent fights in Expeditions, Delving, and Rivals, each kept separately. In the game the panel itself is labeled Battle report — the button that opens above an action list, or near the top of the Rivals ladder — "Battle Log" is the name for the system behind it. Added in v0.38.16, it fixed a bug where your fight history lived only in the browser tab and vanished on every refresh; it's part of your save now.

The running tally

edit

Rather than list every individual run, each log holds a running tally: one line per unique target-and-pack combination. Fighting the same target — a specific patrol, Guardian, cave, or rival tribe — with the exact same companion roster adds to that line instead of starting a new one.

  • What opens a new line. Only your roster's identity — which dinos are in the active party — decides a line. Adding or removing a companion opens a fresh line; a companion levelling up, or its stats changing, does not, so ordinary progress never fragments a session's record.
  • What a line shows. A running Wins/Losses count with a win rate, your pack — the companion party that fought — at the stats it fought with on its most recent run (not today's, so the line stays a fair snapshot of the roster that earned it), and every item those runs have brought home, summed into one running total per item.
  • Full-bank drops are marked, not hidden. If the Bank had no room when a run's loot would have dropped, that stack shows a → amber chip for exactly what got converted, rather than pretending you kept it (see when the bank is full).

Depth per surface

edit

Expeditions, Delving, and Rivals each keep their own log, entirely independent of the other two — the Expeditions and Delving panels share the same look, but switching between those two pages shows only that page's own lines.

Every surface holds your 6 most recently active lines. Fighting a line bumps it back to the top; once a surface already holds six distinct lines, starting a seventh drops whichever one you touched longest ago. A line you keep returning to never ages out on its own — only the ones you've stopped fighting fall off.

Hunting and Taming fights don't get a Battle Log entry — it covers only the three surfaces above.

What counts as a loss

edit

What lands in the Losses column differs by surface:

  • Expeditions and Delving log a loss when your pack flees the fight — food ran out and the swiftness escape pulled you clear (see Death and reclaiming gear). A run that ends in death instead is never logged at all — the attempt didn't resolve, so there's nothing to tally.
  • Rivals logs a loss when you fall in the gauntlet. Since v0.38.16 a raid defeat counts against its line exactly like a win does — before that patch, only victories were ever recorded.

Where to find it

edit

The Battle report isn't a menu page of its own — it's a collapsible panel built into the pages that generate it, and it only appears once you have at least one resolved run to show:

  • On the Expeditions and Delving pages, it drops down above the action list and never replaces it.
  • On the Rivals page, it sits near the top of the page, under the intro and above the tribe ladder.

Its header shows the surface's total win/loss tally whether the panel is expanded or collapsed.

Ascending — the endgame prestige reset — clears the battle log along with other run-scoped progress, the same as your active party or a live raid.
