Amber is the primary soft currency of Primal Idle. It is earned by selling gathered and crafted items, and spent on permanent upgrades and supplies.

Earning Amber

  • Selling items — any item in your Bank can be sold to the vendor for its sell value (Amber earned = sell value × quantity). This is the main, steady source of income.
  • Activities — some world content (Expeditions, Dispatch, Contracts) pays out Amber or Amber-valued rewards.

Spending Amber

  • Shop — permanent upgrades (bank space, speed and yield boosts) and restockable supplies (food, tonics) are bought with Amber.
  • Buying an item back from the vendor costs more than it sold for, so sell deliberately.

Other currencies

Amber is the everyday currency, but the game also uses specialised marks and tokens earned from specific systems — for example Fang Marks from Contracts. Those are covered on their own systems' pages.
